Never lose your mystery.
Persistence is my strength, followed closely by resilience and an unabated love for beauty. I enjoy life and learning challenges and actively look for what I can do in a situation rather than what I cannot. For example, while I was raised in a small town without museums, I chose to earn a degree in art history from two universities in large cities. While I am a default introvert, I chose career paths that required me to relate to other people. To date, these include photojournalism, public relations, and freelance writing.
Am I a contrary? Sometimes. But it serves me well as long as I recognize the inclination and use it to move forward.
The visual arts are my domain of choice, and I incorporated their practical application in my work from signage to simple furniture design and front yard solutions that don't involve grass. I love flowers - can't get enough of them! - and enjoy creating outdoor compositions that balance color and shape as well as painting alley murals. Flowers are my favorite subjects for macro photography and digital art projects. So far, I have created a photo gallery on Picasa and developed a prototype Web site. Both were assignments in classes I have taken during the past year. In addition, I completed a certificate course in Writing for Children at the University of Washington. This academic work is part of my plan to earn an advanced degree in semiotics.
For myself, I remain a work in progress. Balance is my big goal, and developing an appreciation for process keeps me very busy.
