Mr. John C. Miller, M.S.

I launched my military career with an appointment to the Air Force Academy. After four years there, I found the military wasn't my style for a career. I was fortunate, however, to volunteer for a very stressful duty--race relations officer--which brought me to my final 16+ months of duty at U-Tapao Thailand, 1973-74. The stress led me to learn meditation, which has guided my life ever since. I met my wife at the Himalayan Institute, Pennsylvania, in 1978. We married the next year and raised three fine children there, who are now following their own bliss. I pursued careers in social work (12 years), the prison system (drug/alcohol and ABE teaching, 10 years), and briefly in the VA before moving to Iowa (Maharishi University of Management). I now volunteer with the Institute for Asian and American Studies at the university, where I deliver occasional Power Point presentations that introduce Asian visitors to various facets of American culture. With the meditation practice here, I finally have tasted some of what one might call "the peace of God which passes all understanding."
