Shirley Hutchinson
My name is Shirley Hutchinson, and I am a Ph.D. student at the University of British Columbia, in beautiful Kelowna, British Columbia. I completed a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Psychology (Honours), with a Forensic Specialization in 2011, and completed a Master of Arts degree in Psychology in July 2013.
My graduate work has specialized in the field of social psychology, but I do have previous academic experience and training in the field of forensic psychology. I have the honour of working alongside Dr. Paul G. Davies, a renowned researcher in the field of social psychology. My specific research areas include stereotypes/prejudice/discrimination, stereotype threat, errors in eyewitness identifications, and terror management theory (TMT).
Having spent a number of years working in the UBC Department of Psychology as a research assistant, teaching assistant, and SONA administrator, I have a lot of experience under my belt. Should you have any questions about courses, professors, honours thesis projects, directed studies, or general questions about undergrad or graduate work, please do not hesitate to ask me. Feel free to email me or swing by my office -my door is always open!
