My passion is working with marginalized women who are at risk and struggle with concurrent disorders of mental wellness and addictions. With my current experience and education I have been successful in networking women with community resources as well as empowering them to succeed in changing their lives. Specifically dealing with women leaving both Grand Valley (Federal) and Vanier (Provincial) Prison System.
My research work is "generally" focused on understanding the social cognitive and motivational processes underlying attitudes and attitude change in not just these women but also in society as a whole towards them. In an analytic approach I would like to further study the mechanisms that explain people's inferences and attitudes, as well as how a change and maintenance of these inferences and attitudes would impact these women. Specific research that interest me are: behavior change in different ethnic, gender, and age groups to include health disparities and legal legislation.
In the past I have studied psychology as it relates to forensics, addictions, corrections and treatment. Currently I am studying Social Psychology Wesleyan University with Professor Scott Plous.
In 2012 the first of a two part article I wrote was published in the Canadian Criminal Justice Association Journal, and again in the spring of 2013 dealing with the topic of (Part One) Criminal Psychology I "Psychopathic Minds" and (Part II) Criminal Psychology II "Psychopathic "Criminal Minds". This coming fall I will continue this course of studies with "Cults & Terrorism" at Centennial College in Toronto, Ontario, CANADA.
My ultimate goal is to work full time with marginalized women who have been in conflict with the law or are at risk using my psychology education to help by being an advocate educating society about this marginalized group and the stigma attached to them.
In my personal life I have been doing genealogical research for over 24 years and love it!!! Check out my images gallery for some of my "Ancestors in the Attic".

Description
"Bridging Communities" program helping female ex-offender population in a re-entry program. I would like to be part of the outreach and support to these clients; encouraging (empowering) them to participate in orientation and ultimately group sessions as well as one on one counselling sessions. Interfacing directly with this prison population pre-release would also be a key consideration to this position for suitability into program(s). I have worked and counselled these groups for 10 years and have been instrumental in developing and implementing two programs which have had a significant success rate to date. With proper support and case management the percentage of recidivism and been minimal. My passion is to continue to develop programs and resources for women.
