"Life is beautiful, not easy"

Hello everybody.
My name is Eva León, I am 38 years old and I am from Valencia, Spain.

To summarize my life I had to mention that I suffered a grave car accident in 2004, when I was in High School. The car crushed to me and it broke me lots of bones with nerves injuries and I was lame. The diagnostic was "Complex Pelvic Fractures Type 3C of Tile". It sounds stupid but I didn´t know how grave it was because I started to walk in a year after lots of operations although I was lame, but unintentionally I applied the social desirability theory. I only wanted to have a normal lifestyle after all.

Only some years before, my sister died by cancer with 16 years old. And after my accident, my father died by cancer too with 46 years old. My parents were separated but it hurt a lot.

I didn´t know it but all that moments would change all my life forever. I was a physically and psychology disabled girl and in Spain there was no social facilitation for people with disabilities in that time so I spent many years trying the impression management.

Without realizing it, I was trying to create a social impression different from reality in one hand because the fear of people's rejection and on the other hand because I didn't want to remember anything that happened. I created a new life.

One of my dreams and job passion since I was a child was to be a teacher and show values to children that we were loosing by the way.

Nothing, nor the accident or hospitals didn´t stop me to study in that days and finally I fulfilled one of my dream, I worked as a childhood education teacher In "Julio Verne´s Private School" of Valencia.

I started to feel bad after some months and I supposed it was because it was a physical job but I felt very happy and, instead of thinking of having lots of daily pains, I took some pills and I continued working.

I felt worse untill I couldn´t move my legs and doctors told me I needed more operations because the neurological damages. If I am honest, I did never not know anything about my own health in that days. What or who was "Tile"? Now I feel silly when I think about it.

But with 23 years old you think you can conquer the world as you all maybe well know.

Years continued passing between hospitals around Spain so, as I couldn't work physically, I started an online journalism degree by the unconscious collective of that moment with technologies and when I finished, I could open an online humild Boats Events Company in 2017 in the Port of Valencia, controlling them from home.

The problem it was I didn´t think it only worked in Summer although in Valencia´s Community we have sunny days all the year, our traditions are very curious. In Valencia city, it seems we have a zombie's pandemic when it's cold or when it's rain. There are nobody on the street, much less on the boats!

I musted to think in another source of income for winter and I still had another job passion, "Psychology"; an area that I loved too becuase you can help other people and work from the chair and I would have job all the seasons!

I really liked this idea but I was not so young nor healthy. A degree was too hard to me in that moment so I decided to start studying online courses like here in Coursera and then maybe, when I had enough money and I was healthier, I could starting a psychology degree.

I love studying psychology because you can help other people and learn about
the wonderful and mysterious world of the human mind. Also because my mother and I both could overcome traumas and be able to accept them instead of hiding them; they finally explode.

If I learnt something important about my life and health situation about social psychology, is you need to feel the way the other person feel, living the same problems or on the opposite side, having empathy, because empathy is the human capacity to put oneself in another's shoes.

Other reason to continue studying is because learning is why I wake up every day (and the motivation to felt asleep).

Although I continue being operated now by Europe, my nowadays dream is to be psychologist and maybe some day, a good writer to be able to help people in the same situation like me, people that have suffered family traumas, traffic accidents, disable people and all the people I could can. Having a foundation would be my goal.

I would like telling the world the formulas that helped me to continue fighting and the mistakes I had that in part are also a learning and invite them, whatever the situation be, do not give up or leave their dreams aside for having lost their love, job, money, even the health.
Now, I can say it proudly "I AM A DISABLE WOMAN".

Because, even living lying in a bed there are still millions of wonderful things to do on our beloved planet earth.

Remember:
"Life is beautiful, not easy".
