My love for learning all started in my childhood where an elderly Chinese cook for a lumber company that my dad worked in told my parents that I would grow up to be "a success and be someone important".
This notion stuck and it made me believe that I am special, that one day, I will indeed be successful. I will make a difference and help make our world a better place.
But how this could happen?
I was not endowed with physical prowess, neither were we rich as I come from humble background. Considering what i could not be, it quickly dawned on me what I COULD do---develop my mental skills.
And that insight was the key towards fulfilling this 'prophecy'. I came to love learning and to this day, knowledge has been my refuge and strength. The more I learn, the better person I became - gaining more tools to help resolve problems and achieve goals.
