An Attitude of Positive Expectation

Hello, thank you for visiting my page. Well, let me just dive right in. I am a genuinely happy person. I love to have fun, and just be silly at times. I also have a quiet side, that loves being at home reading by a fire, researching interesting subjects, or theorizing interesting concepts. I am optimistic about the future. I have a great career, but I still have a lot of goals I would like to achieve, and adventures I have yet to take. I enjoy traveling, live music and wine tasting. I collect antique paintings and furniture. I am a confident person, and I enjoy trying new things i.e. food, places. I love animals, but I am allergic to cats. I love dressing up when I am out, and I love my comfy clothes when I am in. I am happy where I am, and I am excited about where I am going.

I am a born and bred Californian, but I have been fortunate enough to have traveled and lived in several parts of the world including Portugal, Paris, Italy and the United Kingdom. Living abroad was an eye opening experience, I grew to understand certain aspects of American culture better the longer I stayed overseas. I wrote a book about my insights, and the experience of being treated as an American rather than as a hyphenated one. It focuses on ways the U.S. and Europe differ culturally via media, and how a bridge might be created. I hope one day what I discovered will be a catalyst for positive change in regards to diversity in America.

I am a lover of bucket lists. When I see, or hear about something I find fascinating, I make up my mind I MUST experience it. I am lucky to have checked quite a few events off my list. However, I want to tell you about the most meaningful one I have experienced thus far. One day about 10 years ago I was sitting in my home watching a program, and this commercial came on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjGAJDO666g
For whatever reason, it just struck a chord with me, and I saw the entire scene as if it were my dream life personified. It fit all the aspects I wanted to achieve in my social life; sophisticated repartee in an international setting, great food, wine, conversation, intrigue, and to top it off, it was in Paris. I immediately ran to my computer to see if this were a real, or made up event. To my great delight I found this video that verified it was a true event https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qI-eVnith8. Once confirmed, I put it on my bucket list, and slowly made plans to attend one of Jim Haynes famous dinner parties one day. Three years ago I achieved that goal, and I hope to go again one day. It was exactly as I envisioned it would be, an absolutely fantastic evening. I love to share that story because I truly believe each of us can achieve whatever we set out to do, if we are determined, and remain positive.

Psychology Mentors, Inspirations, and Influences

  • Akhil Reed Amar
    Yale University
Professor Amar gave me a much deeper understanding of the United States Constitution. He made me look at it in ways I never would have, if not for his class. For that I will always be grateful. It was an inspirational course.
  • Professor Paul Bloom
    Yale University
Professor Bloom is an inspirational teacher. His class called Moralities of Everyday life explored the psychological foundations of our moral lives. I have never been so disappointed to see a class end. I LOVED it. He is a teacher i will always remember.
