HCI, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Psychology
Hey there! I am a recent graduate from the EuMI joint master program between RWTH Aachen and UNIT Trento with a strong focus on Human–Computer Interaction (HCI). This program has taken me from Uruguay, my home country, to Europe, and it has given me the chance to live in Germany and Italy, two amazing countries, and to travel all around Europe. Traveling is one of my greatest passions! At the moment I am a research intern at in|situ|, an HCI lab in Paris, where I will become a PhD student from September onwards.
I have always been interested in Psychology, but I have only approached it through reading books and doing online courses. So far I feel extremely motivated by the research in this field, and I am looking into ways of combining psychology and Computer Science.
Because I want to obtain knowledge in social psychology, I joined the Social Psychology course by Scott Plous on Coursera, and subsequently I joined the Social Psychology Network! Currently I am looking forward to start my Doctoral studies, where I will have the chance to combine HCI and cognitive and social psychology in the context of remote collaboration for wall-sized displays. Also as a crazy idea, I've always been interested in the mix between HCI and neuroscience. Simply put: what new findings can emerge from unbiased and objective data, obtained from users' brain through neuroscience techniques, which will ultimately contribute to the HCI field? It is my strong belief that HCI has a lot to benefit from Neuroscience, an interdisciplinary combination hardly studied so far, but in which I definitively see myself doing research.
Feel free to get in touch with me anytime!
Hoping to meet you, dear visitor,
- Ignacio
