Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the International Social Cognition Network, it is a pleasure to announce the winner of the 2006 ISCON Best Paper Award. This year's committee consisted of Melissa Ferguson, Bernd Wittenbrink, and Bertram Gawronski, and they chose "Automatic Social Behavior as Motivated Preparation to Interact," coauthored by Joe Cesario, Jason Plaks, and Tory Higgins and published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, as the winner.
The committee felt that the research offers a decisive theoretical advance for our understanding of how automatic
processes influence social judgment and behavior. As such, the paper exemplifies in an outstanding fashion the value
of the social cognition approach for social psychological research.
As usual, the work will be presented at the next ISCON pre-conference, this time held in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Congratulations to Joe, Jason, and Tory!
I hope you all have a good summer.
Ap Dijksterhuis
ISCON President
