CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
THE PSYCHOLOGY OF MODERN PREJUDICE
We are looking for contributors to an edited book entitled “The Psychology of Modern Prejudice,” which is scheduled for publication by Nova Science Publishers in late 2007 or early 2008.
The purposes of the book are: (1) to articulate psychologists’ current understanding of modern prejudice and its application to various social groups; (2) to highlight innovative experimental and non-experimental studies in the area; and (3) to outline directions for future research. To accomplish this objective, we are particularly interested in receiving manuscripts that cover one or more of the following:
1. psychometric considerations when using measures designed to assess contemporary prejudice (e.g., the Modern Racism Scale);
2. an overview of the distinction between modern prejudice and related forms such as aversive and symbolic prejudice;
3. research examining modern prejudice toward various social groups such as African-Americans, gay men, and lesbian women;
4. cross-cultural contributions to the study of modern prejudice;
5. the intersection between modern prejudice and implicit methodologies such as the implicit association test (IAT), implicit relational assessment procedure (IRAP), and facial electromyography (EMG); and
6. strategies designed to ameliorate modern prejudice.
Please note that this list is not exhaustive and other contributions designed to further understanding of modern prejudice are welcome.
Manuscripts may range from 20 to 45 typed double-spaced pages (including references) and must be prepared in accordance with the American Psychological Association’s (5th edition) style guidelines. The deadline for submissions is April 1, 2007. Manuscripts should be submitted electronically as Word attachments to both editors. The email accompanying the manuscript should contain full contact details. As well, to permit blind review, identifying information should not appear on the manuscript itself. Upon receipt, the manuscript will be evaluated by both editors and at least one external reviewer. A decision will be issued within 8 weeks.
