The Department of Psychology at Portland State University has a tenure-track opening at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in Applied Social and Community Psychology beginning September, 2011. The department has a strong applied research orientation and has an Applied Psychology PhD program with specializations in Applied Social and Community, Applied Developmental, and Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications include a doctoral degree in Social or Community psychology or a related field. Successful candidate must have earned his or her Ph.D. by Sept. 16, 2011. We seek candidates who have an established record of community-based research and publication, or demonstrated potential for establishing such a record. Candidates applying at the associate or full level should demonstrate an appropriate track record. The specific area of expertise is open, but we are especially interested in applications from persons conducting research addressing: psychology and social change, dyadic or group processes, intergroup conflict, physical and mental health disparities and psychological aspects of social inequalities, cultural perspectives on social processes, or cross-cultural issues. Candidates are expected to have a grant funding track record or potential commensurate with level of experience. Particular consideration will be given to candidates with strengths in qualitative or quantitative methods.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include maintaining a productive program of community-based research; teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in applied social or community psychology, including courses related to the applicant’s area of expertise, research methodology course(s) and undergraduate core courses; supervising graduate students’ community-based theses and dissertations; and contributing in service to the department, university and profession.

Compensation
