The Department of Psychology at the University of Michigan invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in the Personality & Social Contexts area to begin Fall 2007 (pending administrative approval). We seek outstanding candidates whose research focuses on temperament and temperament traits and how they interact with social context. We are particularly interested in applicants who investigate: factors (including social contexts) that shape temperament; temperament continuity and change over time; or ways in which temperament interacts with social contexts. Individuals who use multiple methodologies and use an interdisciplinary approach are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates are expected to connect to one or more of the following five core themes of the Personality and Social Contexts area: identity, motivation, power, oppression, and/or culture. Evidence of a research program and teaching ability are essential. Salary is competitive.
Each application should consist of a cover letter describing the applicant’s scholarly work, a teaching statement describing your teaching philosophy and experience, and a research statement of your current and future research plans; a full CV; representative publications; and at least three letters of recommendation.
