Name of Organization Description Membership Information American Psychological Association [List of Divisions] Has roughly 150,000 members and 50 divisions with a wide variety of specialties. The next APA Convention will take place in Boston, Massachusetts, on August 14-17 of 2008. American Psychological Association of Graduate Students Has membership of more than 30,000 graduate and undergraduate students in psychology. Offers activities at the annual APA Convention (next in Boston, Massachusetts, on August 14-17 of 2008). Association for Psychological Science Has more than 15,000 members and is the largest general psychology organization focusing mainly on research. The next APS Convention will take place in San Francisco, California, on May 22-25 of 2009. Association for Psychological Science Student Caucus A national student network with more than 4,000 members and 50 chapters (also see RiSE-UP, formerly the Ethnic Minority Concerns Committee of APSSC). Association for Research in Personality Has over 400 members and publishes the Journal of Research in Personality. The annual conference (held with SPSP) will take place in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on February 7-9 of 2008. Asian Association of Social Psychology Has roughly 400 members and publishes the Asian Journal of Social Psychology. The next AASP Biennial Conference will take place at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in New Delhi, India, on December 11-14 of 2009. Association of Black Psychologists Has more than 1,400 members and is devoted to advancing the profession of Black Psychology, promoting social change, and assisting Black communities and other ethnic groups. British Psychological Society Social Psychology Section An educational and professional organization founded in 1953. The next BPS Social Psychology Annual Conference will be held in Dublin, Ireland, on April 2-4 of 2008. Canadian Psychological Association Social and Personality Section Has roughly 85 social and personality psychologists and maintains an electronic discussion list that members can join. European Association of Experimental Social Psychology Has more than 800 members and convenes a General Meeting every three years. The next General Meeting will be held in Opatija, Croatia, on June 10-14 of 2008. Federation of Behavioral, Psychological and Cognitive Sciences A coalition dedicated to science advocacy, education, and communication. Members include the Society of Experimental Social Psychology and the Society for Personality and Social Psychology. Group Psychology and Group Psychotherapy Division 49 of the American Psychological Association. Has roughly 1,000 members and is open to both APA and non-APA members. International Association of Applied Psychology Has more than 2,000 members in more than 90 countries. The next International Congress of Applied Psychology will be held in Melbourne, Australia, on July 11-16 of 2010. International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology Has more than 800 members in 65 countries. The next International Congress of IACCP will be held in Bremen, Germany, on July 27-31 of 2008. International Association for Relationship Research Has more than 600 members from around the world. The next biennual International Conference on Personal Relationships will be held in Herzliya, Israel, on July 22-25 of 2010. International Social Cognition Network Promotes social cognition research through its journal, Social Cognition, and by hosting preconferences at the meetings of SPSP, SESP, and EAESP. International Society for Research on Aggression An interdisciplinary organization with roughly 250 members from over two dozen countries. The 19th World Meeting will be held in Storrs, Connecticut, on July 27-31 of 2010. International Society for Self and Identity Has more than 600 members from five continents. ISSI hosts preconferences on Self and Identity at the annual meetings of SESP and SPSP. International Society of Political Psychology An interdisciplinary organization with more than 1,000 members worldwide. The next Annual Meeting of ISPP will be held in Dublin, Ireland, on July 14-17 of 2009. Psi Chi A national honor society in psychology with over 1,000 chapters (see the List of Psi Chi Chapter Pages). Psi Chi offers a variety of national and regional conventions. Society for Judgment and Decision Making An interdisciplinary organization focusing on many different aspects of judgment and decision making. The next SJDM annual meeting will be held in Chicago, Illinois, in mid-November of 2008. Society for Personality and Social Psychology Has more than 4,500 members and publishes PSPB and PSPR. The next annual SPSP Conference will be held in Tampa, Florida, on February 5-7 of 2009. Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues Has roughly 3,000 members and focuses on topics of societal concern. The next SPSSI Biennial Convention will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana, on June 25-27 of 2010. Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality A multidisciplinary professional society with more than 1,000 members. The next SSSS Annual Meeting will be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on November 5-9 of 2008. Society for the Teaching of Psychology Has more than 2,000 members and publishes Teaching of Psychology. STP also sponsors APA and APS programs and Best Practices in Teaching Psychology, which last met in Atlanta, Georgia, on October 12-13 of 2007. Society of Australasian Social Psychologists Network of social psychologists in Australia and New Zealand. The next SASP Conference will take place in New Zealand at Victoria University of Wellington on March 27-30, 2008. Society of Experimental Social Psychology Has more than 700 members and publishes JESP. The next SESP Conference will be held in Sacramento, California, on October 23-25 of 2008. Society of Southeastern Social Psychologists Includes more than 400 members, both within and outside of the southeastern United States. The next SSSP Annual Meeting will take place in Greenville, South Carolina, on October 24-25 of 2008.
