Nothing is impossible, the word itself says 'I'm possible'! - Audrey H
I am a mature aged student, that didn't know what I wanted to do with my life at 18.
With the dream of working in the world of dentistry, I applied for a dental trainee position with my family dentist where I worked for two and a half years and gained a Certificate III in Dental Assisting. I loved my job but felt there was more for me to aspire to. So I moved from Cairns, Queensland, Australia to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, with no family or close friends to study Psychology and Psychophysiology at Swinburne University of Technology. I still have a year and a half left of my studies and hope to one day work in a sleep lab and help people like my mother who have sleep apnea.
I have been a competition ten pin bowler since I was 10, and have regularly represented North Queensland at a national level, and was once picked to train with the Australian Junior Development Squad where I was coached by Dick Ritger. While I don't have the same amount of time to dedicate to my bowling as I used to, I still manage to get back home and represent my home town at least once a year.
At the moment I have taken twelve months off university to work full time and save money with my amazing and very supportive boyfriend, so that we can purchase our own house and start the next stage of our lives together. During this time I did not want to lose my love of study and have joined the Coursera group to keep studying, as well as to keep my mind active. I have completed a course in the field that I am currently working in (dentistry) and am currently enrolled the Social Psychology course with Scott Plous.

Margaret StarkeyMy GrandmotherMy grandmother was my idol growing up, She was a hard worker and loving soul. Even though she lost a daughter, a son and her husband, she always had a smile on her face. She never said a harsh word about anyone. Her smile would light up and room and make you feel loved. I aspire to be like her.
