Dr. Nathan J. Borrett, PhD.
Dr. Nate - Professor, Educator, Counselor, Woodworker, Texan
I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from the University of Iowa, located in Iowa City, Iowa. I was an Electrical Design Engineer, a Programs Manager, and an Engineering Department manager for over 37 years. I was also a hospice chaplain for several years. I traveled internationally extensively throughout my career. I obtained my Master of Divinity in Pastoral Counseling (M.Div. PC) at Liberty University. I obtained my PhD in Psychology with emphasis in cognition and instruction from Grand Canyon University (GCU).
In addition to teaching as an adjunct professor at Liberty University for several years, I have also taught at a community college nearby where I taught English Language Acquisition (ELA) classes in the afternoons and evenings. I have taught ELA classes and tutored ELA students for over 5 years. I enjoy teaching and using my experience to help students grow both academically and spiritually.
I have been married to my wife, Robin, for over 46 years. She has her Master of Science in Nursing and works as a Hospice Care Intake Manager and teaches online. We have two boys who are married, and both live in the Dallas, Texas area. We have the joy of having eight grandchildren with one more on the way!
I have many side interests and hobbies but very little time for most of them. I enjoy tennis, mountain biking, playing saxophone or various stringed instruments, and woodworking. I currently live on a little over one acre and have just built a woodworking shop, which turned out to be a lot of work. But it was worth it. I have built many pieces of furniture such as a dining room table, bench, and chairs along with other furniture for my two boys and their families as well as for myself.
