Looking for Quantitative Psychologists for Journal
Posted by: Jason W. Osborne

I have been asked to help launch a quantitative psychology journal (Frontiers in Quantitative Psychology and Measurement) and I am looking to add some scholars in to the board of associate editors in the following areas:

-- the empirical study of methods and techniques for the measurement of human attributes,
-- the statistical and mathematical modeling of psychological processes,
-- the design of quantitative research studies,
-- evidence-based examinations of best practices in quantitative analysis of data
-- evidence-based examinations of best practices in quantitative methods of policy and program evaluation and
-- exemplars of excellence in application of quantitative methods and measurement to substantive areas of broad interest
-- scholarship on the field of Quantitative Psychology and Applied Measurement (broadly defined), including research on recruitment, training, and retention of scholars specializing in these areas

Would you be interested in serving on the editorial board? My goal is to create an international, diverse, scholarly community within the editorial board to help launch this most important journal. For those of you considering offering to join, the editorial process for Frontiers journals is a bit different than most, being both interactive and highly automated, leaving editors empowered to accept articles within their domain of expertise and at the same time less burdened than with some more traditional journals.

If not (or even if you are!), I would love to hear of other scholars who might be interested in this opportunity. I'm pasting some information about the journal below, for your information.

Best wishes,
Jason

FQPM is to be part of the new Frontiers in Psychology family of open-access journals, supported by the non-profit Frontiers Research Foundation (http://www.frontiersin.org). The Frontiers Research Foundation model offers the most advanced internet technologies and strategies such as real-time, multiple iteration peer-review, real-time impact analysis of published articles, a tiering system to distill and highlight the most outstanding articles, collaborative review between authors and anonymous reviewers, and most importantly, free and open access to anyone with internet access. There are no subscription fees, ever. Thus, our articles will be available to a much broader audience, and can achieve a stronger impact. With the most rigorous peer-review possible, a Frontiers article is published on average within 3 months of submission.

This new model of publishing has proven to be highly successful; Frontiers in Neuroscience grew to become the largest publishers of high quality neuroscience articles in one and a half years, is supported by over 2500 of the world's top 10% most high-impact neuroscientists as editors, and is read by over 150.000 neuroscientists from 120 countries:

Now we hope to do the same with Frontiers in Psychology.

Quantitative Psychology and Measurement represents an important contribution to the Frontiers in Psychology family, which has both an online and printed component. Making Quantitative Psychology, research methods, and measurement a focus in this new series is an important opportunity for us to raise the profile, and highlight the importance of, the contributions those who focus on these often-underappreciated areas.
