Dear Colleagues,
Stefania Paolini and myself are conducting a meta-analysis of stereotyping studies on individual-to-group generalization. We are interested in the effects of information about individual outgroup members on different group-level measures of stereotyping.
In particular, we are looking for unpublished research that:
1. Provided participants with information about individual out-group members (one or several)
2. This information can be stereotype confirming or disconfirming, positive or negative.
3. It may be presented via any means (e.g., written, audio, visual, etc.).
4. Participants reported stereotyped responding towards the outgroup as a whole (e.g., prejudice, stereotypicality, etc.).
5. We are interested in both negatively and positively stereotyped groups.
6. We are equally interested in work that did not find effects/relationships as in work that did.
We have already identified over 50 empirical papers through our search of databases such as PsycLIT, PsychINFO, Social Science Journals and ERIC. But we are hoping to include dissertations, unpublished manuscripts, work in progress and press. All contributions will be appropriately acknowledged in any resulting publication.
If you have any work that you think might even vaguely fit our inclusion criteria, please send it on and we can sort it out! Or if you need more details, please just let us know. We would be grateful for any relevant work that you would like to share with us. Please send any manuscripts/research notes either electronically (kylie.mcintyre@uon.edu.au).
Kind regards,
Kylie McIntyre
