The Psychology Department at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) seeks to hire one tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning in Fall 2012. A Ph.D. is required by the time of appointment.
We seek candidates who strive to be master teachers, who can sustain an active research program that complements current faculty interests and involves undergraduate students, and who are committed to professional development. Full consideration will be given to candidates with interests in ANY area of psychology, but we especially encourage applications from those who conduct research in the areas of Educational, Health, or Developmental Psychology. Candidates must provide evidence that they can maintain a successful program of research given modest space, funding (both start up and annual expenses), and participants. Candidates must also be able to teach core methodological courses (Methods and Tools, Design and Statistical Analysis, or Research Seminar); appropriate foundation courses; and develop higher-level specialized courses in their areas of expertise. The typical teaching load is three courses (usually two preps) each semester. In addition to teaching and research, faculty participate in the College community through a variety of service contributions. Candidates must provide evidence that they can contribute to the development of our intellectual community.
Review of applications will begin on October 1, 2011. For full consideration, candidates must submit a cover letter (that clearly describes how the candidate's work fits with the teacher-scholar model), vita, teaching philosophy, description of research program, three letters of recommendation, student evaluations or other evidence of teaching effectiveness, and copies of representative pre/reprints.
